Something not working?
I answer these myself, so please just write in your own words and say which device you are on. It usually takes a couple of days. A screenshot or a short screen recording helps enormously if something looks wrong, and it is worth including the app version too - you will find it at the bottom of Settings inside Ripple.
Replies usually come within a few days.
Common questions
I paid, but the experiences are locked again
Open Settings inside Ripple and choose Restore purchases. This asks Apple what your Apple Account has bought and unlocks it again. It works on any device signed in to the same account, and it is free.
If it still does not unlock, email me with the date of purchase and I will look into it.
Is it a subscription?
No. Ripple Foundations is a one-time purchase of £1.99. There is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews. It is shareable with your Family Sharing group.
The ripples look faint or move less than I expected
That is usually iOS doing what you asked it to. Ripple reads your accessibility settings and adapts to them:
- Reduce Motion - one ripple at a time, no glow under your finger, no ghost sweeps.
- Dim Flashing Lights - the glow is removed entirely and the ripple is softer.
- Increase Contrast - brighter ripples in a single colour, with heavier cell edges.
Turn any of them off in iOS Settings, then Accessibility, and Ripple will follow. See the accessibility page for the full list.
My child changed a setting, or left the experience
In Settings there are two grown-up controls. One asks for Face ID, Touch ID or the passcode before an experience can be closed, before Settings is opened, and before either link on the purchase screen opens a web page. The two links inside Settings are covered by the same check, because Settings cannot be opened without passing it first. The other control asks before anything is bought. Both are off by default and either can be turned on alone.
If the device has no passcode or biometrics set up, these checks let you through rather than locking you out - a lock nobody can open is worse than no lock.
Does Ripple work offline?
Yes, completely. There is no account, no sign-in and no content to download. Aeroplane mode changes nothing.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later. Ripple is built for both - the grid grows with the screen, so an iPad gets a larger surface rather than a stretched phone one.
Can I use it in a school, clinic or care setting?
Yes, and there is a page written for exactly that: For educators and therapists. It covers what Ripple is, what it is not, and what to tell a parent or a headteacher.
Found a bug, or want an experience that does not exist yet?
Email ripple.sensoryspaces@gmail.com. Quite a lot of what is in Ripple started as somebody's email.
